The Henry C. Ulen Foundation
The Henry C. Ulen Foundation, named for the founder and benefactor of Ulen Country Club and the Town of Ulen, was incorporated in the state of Indiana as a charitable, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) entity on September 22, 2010. It is a separate and distinct legal entity from Ulen Country Club and the Town of Ulen and is governed by its own Board of Directors with its own set of Bylaws.
Funded by individual and corporate grants, the Henry C. Ulen Foundation’s primary purpose is to preserve, maintain and enhance the historical integrity and significance of Ulen Country Club, its historic clubhouse and golf course, and the Town of Ulen, all listed in 2015 on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Impact of Your Gift
Historical PreservationCentury-old buildings require regular investment. Your donations help us maintain the Ulen Country Club buildings, as well as its grounds, workspaces, dining facilities and golf course. Listing on the National Register of Historic Places also provides many state and federal opportunities for specific preservation incentives, grants, and benefits.
Recent building projects have included roof repairs, clubhouse carpeting, and bathroom, kitchen and bar renovations. The Foundation has also funded installation of new trees, bunkers and driving range mats for the golf course. Funding has also been used to help UCC employees with the installation of new computer servers, software, and training. Community SupportHCUF also provides financial assistance to the Town of Ulen for improvements to its utilities, roads, resident services and events. Earlier this year, the Foundation purchased, installed and celebrated a new historical marker near the entrance to the clubhouse. Funds are also currently being provided for the installation of parking lot lights and streetlights along Country Club Boulevard.
Projects You DesignateIf you prefer to see your gift used for a specific project, your donation can be earmarked for that purpose. Let us know what you’d like to see accomplished. If you have an idea for a larger project, the Foundation invites proposals for grant requests from any member of the community. Grants must be approved by the HCUF Board of Directors. Since 2015, more than $200,000 has been used for improvements to the club and community. However, we anticipate that as much as $500,000 t0 $600,000 more will be needed within the next 5 years.
