More Than You Imagine
Welcome to the Town of Ulen
The historic Town of Ulen and the Ulen Country Club, established in the 1920s by
Henry C. Ulen, are nestled in the heart of Lebanon, Indiana.
A small dot on the map...
Near the City of Lebanon, Indiana, the historic Town of Ulen is one of Boone County's best kept secrets.
Visitors to this stately 90-year-old town will find two winding residential streets lined with architecturally distinctive houses, large manicured lawns, and the 106-acre Ulen Country Club and Golf Course, the only commercial businesses in the town. Green space abounds in Ulen, and views of the golf course enhance the ambience of this family-friendly 53-home neighborhood.
Founder Henry C. Ulen, truly a Renaissance man in his lifetime, envisioned this 40-acre oasis as a gracious respite from the hustle and bustle of west-central Indiana during the 1920s. Having grown up in Lebanon, Mr. Ulen wanted to relocate his company to his hometown and provide a truly unique residential environment for his employees. He founded both the town and the Country Club just before the Wall Street crash in 1929.
Nine decades later, the Town of Ulen and Ulen Country Club continue to pay tribute to Mr. Ulen’s engineering and architectural vision. Visitors will discover winding tree-lined streets and two circular esplanades, and with just a little imagination it is easy to visualize early motorcars transporting people through town. When a winter snow blankets the ground at dusk—with the ornate streetlights, strolling residents, and 100-year-old trees among the historic homes—the Ulen Historic District offers a truly remarkable landscape of American life in a small Midwestern community a century ago.
